JOB ROLE

SCM provides on-site change and contract management support for the project and project site management team in regards to appropriately and efficiently manage all site-related aspects of contracts with customer, partner(s), suppliers and subcontractors.

Job Description

Job Responsibilities

  •  Monitoring and ensuring adherence to established project change and contract management procedures.

  • Compiling complete record and documentation packages for every single project change, potential or actual claim.

  • Pro-active communication of project change and contract management relevant observations, issues and events to project and project site management.

  • Communicating and coordinating his/her activities directly to / with the concerned discipline site managers, the Site Manager (SM) as well as the Project Manager (PM).

  • Closely liaising with Site Quantity Surveying Engineer (SQSE), particularly in active and re-active claim management with construction and installation suppliers and subcontractors.

  • Making himself/herself particularly knowledgeable of:
    - project-specific contractual stipulations and requirements
    - project-specific HSE requirements and standards
    - project-specific QA/QC requirements and standards
    - project-specific baseline project time schedule
    - Marubeni-internal approval processes and procedures
    - process-specific BoQ definitions and re-measuring methods
    - project-specific / subcontract-specific invoicing and payment procedures

  • Establishing a positive relationship with customer / partners / suppliers and subcontractors.

Job Description

  • Implements and enforces project-specific change and claim management procedures at site.

  • Provides general guidance to the project and project site management team for any contract matters in form of general contract management awareness training, familiarization sessions for project-specific project change and claim management procedures, etc.

  • Screens all incoming and outgoing project correspondence with focus on change and claim relevant issues or events and highlights same to the project and project site management team.

  • Provides contract management oriented guidance to individual members of the project and project site management team for specific issues or events, by contract interpretation, drafting appropriate letter correspondence, minutes of meeting, reports, etc.

  • Ensures proper management of project changes which could result in claims, contract amendments, change or variation orders.

  • Identifies claims risks and opportunities and develops claim defense and claim strategies for project and project site management’s consideration and implementation.

  • Supports project and project site management team in defending against unjustified claims from any contracting parties. 

  • Supports project and project site management in pursuing and pushing through justified claims against contracting parties.

  • Collects, organizes and maintains all records and documentation related to all project changes, potential and actual claims.

  • Checks, scrutinizes and endorses extra work proposals and claims issued by any contracted party.

  • Supports project and project site management team in contract agreements, close-outs, extensions or renewals.
